Glenn and Mary have been married for nearly 30 years. We have 4 wonderful children, a great son-in-law and two adorable grand-daughters.
The Smith/Harris side of our family appears to be pretty much of Northern European descent with the first immigrating ancestor rumored to have been among the Mayflower settlers. The closest thing I have found yet on this is a Hugh Calkins from Wales about 1640-ish. There is a Hugh Calkins that married the daughter of one of the Settlers, however, if this is the same man, then the family ancestor is a 2nd marriage for him and not among the Mayflower families. I will keep exploring.
The most recent immigrant is Reverend Guy Hamilton from Ireland in 1865, making Glenn 1/32nd Irish.
It is also rumored that Benj. Franklin is a great Uncle (multiple great obviously) to my husband also, but once again I am still looking for that elusive proof. I will say this Benj. Franklin and Franklin Benj. are prevelent 1st and middle names on one of the family lines.
Now as to the Price/Miles lines, once again it looks to be primarily Northern European, with the earliest line in proven to be Thomas and Elizabeth Scott, who at 40 years of age came to America with their children. Their daughter Elizabeth married John Spofford (click names to see their genealogical record on the Georgetown historical site) and this pair was one of the first residents of Georgetown, MA (See Georgetown website ref.).
The most recent immigrant ancestor on this side of the family is Albert Kubias who arrived in Boston with his family at the age of 8 on 5 Jan 1854 - Boston, Massachusetts on the ship Arnor. Making me (Mary) 1/16 Bohemian.
As I continue to explore more I hope to continually add stories and facts to the information that I have.
